Isay, a 14-year-old Filipino tomboy, embarks on a perilous voyage across the West Philippine Sea to uncover the whereabouts of her turtle conservationist-mother. Left behind frequently by her enigmatic mother, Isay is determined to unveil the truth about her. But Isay’s journey takes an unexpected detour at Turtle Island. She faces danger from turtle poachers killing the endangered sea turtles in its fragile ecosystem. In her quest for survival, Isay overcomes imminent danger. Guided by a mythical golden sea turtle, Isay learns profound lessons from the ocean, ultimately uncovering her own strength and resilience. This poignant coming-of-age story delves into identity, womanhood and the transformative power of the sea.

Director’s Profile
Paul Sta. Ana is a published Filipino poet and accomplished filmmaker who is an alumnus of the 2013 Berlinale Talents. His work encompasses themes like gender politics, the commodification of death, and ecology. As a screenwriter and/or director, his notable work includes Mayohan (2010 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival best screenplay), Trespassers (winner of the Best Asian-Middle Eastern Film at the 2011 Tokyo International Film Festival), and Walang Forever (2015 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Screenplay). Oros opened the 2012 Asiatica Film Mediale in Rome, Italy. His most recent film, Balut Country, was showcased at the 2015 Tokyo International Film Festival. He wrote and directed various television series, specials, and mini-series for GMA Television Network, earning local television awards and an International Emmy nomination.
